Barry has been playing drums and percussion since an early age. His career as a musician has progressed from rock to jazz to world music, and is now happily involved in fields in which rhythm and melody are used in sound healing and meditation as well as contemporary music.
He has been teaching music for 20 years.
In 2006 he discovered the Hang, and was immediately enchanted by its deeply moving soundscape and huge musical potential. He gives regular performances and workshops, involving the hang and other handpans, udus, and associated percussion instruments.
Lina's interest in rhythm started 10 years ago when she heard the polyrhythmic sounds of African drumbeats. Since that time Lina has learned to play various percussive instruments.
Her love affair with the Hang began in 2006 and in 2009 she received her own. Lina has had a lifelong interest in health, wellbeing and meditative practice. The Hang’s extraordinary capacity to lead both player and listener into a peaceful and often moving inner realm remains a source of delight and discovery.
Lina regularly holds drumming, Hang and udu workshops and performs with Barry Mason as the HangHang Duo.
